Return To Ostagar Is Finally Here – Xbox360
Jan 29
We just got word from BioWare’s Community Facilitator, Victor Wachter, that Return to Ostagar, along with the Title update, is going to be released in the early hours tomorrow morning.
Unfortunately this release date only applies for the Xbox360 version. The PC and the PS3 version are still in testing.
We currently expect the update to occur starting at the following local times on that date:
Title Update:
1AM PST (San Francisco)
2AM MST (Edmonton)
4AM EST (New York)
9AM GMT (London)Return to Ostagar:
2AM PST (San Francisco)
3AM MST (Edmonton)
5AM EST (New York)
10AM GMT (London)
Do I need to download it again?
No. But you will have to download the new title update.
If you were able to download Return to Ostagar during its previous release, you will not need to download it a second time. However, you will need to download the new version of the title update.
What about the PC, PS3 version?
The PC and PlayStation 3 versions are still in testing. We expect the PC to complete testing in time for release early next week. We will update you with PlayStation 3 status when we have more information.
Title Update Release Notes
Some players were unable to unlock the four achievements from Warden’s Keep and the Stone Prisoner during the first four days of launch. These achievements will unlock properly once you sign in to your Xbox Live and EA accounts.
The previous Xbox 360 update update introduced an issue that relocked class specializations. This title update will resolve that issue.
* After loading a previously saved game, specializations that have been unlocked through gameplay will be available again.
* All book-based specializations will now automatically unlock once the Warden reaches level 14. Books will still be available from vendors so you can unlock these specializations before level 14.The Hopeless Romantic, Perfectionist and Recruiter achievements were not unlocking for some players. This issue has been resolved. To update and unlock these achievements automatically, load a saved game where the Warden has completed the requirements for these achievements.
* The Recruiter achievement will still require a recruitment to occur after the save is loaded. If you have completed all the requirements for Recruiter, and the achievement is still locked, load an earlier saved game where you are still able to recruit any party member. Once you have recruited a party member, the achievement should unlock. This should work even if your current saved game still has unrecruited characters, but you have recruited all of them in previous play.
Looks like the wait is finally over. Keep an eye on the Xbox Marketplace for the release and have fun playing Return to Ostagar. We will, as always, keep you posted once we know more about the PC and PS3 release.

So they are releasing the Xbox360 versions… but holding the PC & PS3 version until they are out of testing??? Anyone else feel like they are about to bitch slap PC & PS3 costumers? I mean, why not hold the 360 version until the others are complete, since it was that console that pushed the other releases…

I hope RtO will never be released. Bioware and its partners' incompetence screw up on garganutuan proportions for a tiny DLC. I can just imagine the screwups in future DLC and expansions.

you shouldn't complain and just be thankful they cared enough to ensure the quality of their product.

Very well put.

In these modern times, telling someone not to complain is like telling someone not to breathe. This is the 'me-centric' era.
BioWare cared enough to ensure the quality of their product… money and continuing sales for future content, of course, had nothing to do with it. =)
Perspective:
The delay was not a world changing affair and lives were not disrupted. However it uncovers some genuine issues that directly reflect upon the development team for this game and the development company as a whole when taken in measure with the similar difficulties in their newly released title.
As a side note, I find it a bit ironic that the PC version of the title was held until it could be released alongside the Xbox and PS versions, yet the PC and PS versions will not be available while the Xbox version is. That's fairly telling, considering the power that MS holds and the uproar that happens when something goes awry over an update over their service.
A few friends already played the DLC via torrent downloads and most of the new stuff is spoiled for me (thanks John, big mouth). I can only imagine how much more is going to be spoiled when a whole platform will get it days to a week earlier than others. Now -that- is what bothers me.

The update is out? is there any difference between this one and the original in terms of game play? Other then the specialties, talking specific RTO content.
Comment by Illiani on January 29, 2010 at 4:21 pm
If people do mention any differences then take not that I will be removing any spoiler-posts until the ps3 version is released. It is hardily fair on the other platform users otherwise.

No biggie. I forced my eyes to unfocus when I realized what was going on.

I really have to agree with the first comment in here. How badly do things have to be to screw up a small DLC like this and keep it from releasing for almost one month after its scheduled release date? So they made sure it was bug free. Good, they should have done no less. At least they finally got it together. However at what cost. The damage to their reputation has been done. Unless they release the next content on time with zero delays they will be marked by the gaming community. Everyone talks about how its just good that they got the content out and its clean. All that hype for less than 45 minutes of play. Not worth they delays!!
