Awakenings' Tank Has Boobs!
What a week of updates we have enjoyed this week! Amaranthine got revealed, PS3 fans finally got a release date for RtO, we got to glimpse some of the Achievements on offer in Awakenings and the new Mage specialization was released! It seems BioWare has left the best till last, because on top of all that has come before we now get to enjoy our newest party member, the ever so pretty human fighter: Mhairi!
When Mhairi was a child, she was enraptured by tales of kings and nobles. All she wanted was to be like them, to fight for what she believed. Betrothed to a trader when she turned 16, she saw the life that lay ahead of her and enlisted in the army instead. Her fierce loyalty and devotion to Ferelden earned her the love and respect of her commanders and brothers-in-arms.
King Cailan’s betrayal and death hit Mhairi hard, and when she learned of the two Grey Wardens who quelled the Blight almost single-handedly, she vowed to serve the Wardens. When the call came for volunteers to help rebuild the order at Vigil’s Keep, Mhairi jumped at the chance to join.
So we know Mhairi is a Warden recruit, but made all that more interesting by not having yet taken her Joining. With putting companions through their Joining being one of the new features available in Awakenings, Mhairi could be a very interesting choice.
Something else to remember, is the two available paths you can walk through Awakenings. One is as the Warden from Origins, the other is as the Orlais Warden Commander. So being the youngest Warden recruit it makes sense that you will lead new recruits through their Joining, but what if you are the Orlaisian? Who then will lead the Joining, could a young Grey Warden be the final Companion soon to be announced?

I think I'm going to like her. Her and my female warrior can be BFF!

Morrigan, temptation is everywhere….though no romance in the expansion so there's nothing to worry about lol. But the temptation….by the maker!!!

There are some interesting possibilities in the storyline with this character. It's really exciting to think where something like this could go, not having yet been through the joining. Could she survive all through the expansion and prove integral to success only to not survive the joining in the end? I am starting to really look forward to the expansion with some of the revealed character backgrounds, but the sparse content in the DLC releases still causes me more than a bit of trepidation. I still have not pre-ordered and might just wait a few weeks to read reviews from others who thought that DLC was a bit lacking in content.
On a tangent, I saw the caption "Awakenings' Tank Has Boobs!" and I immediately thought of my friend's reaction when I was playing my sword and board warrior and he saw that I had made it female: "Why in the world did you make a girl a tank? Tanks can't have *boobs*. You should have made a mage and *romanced* the french chick if you wanted the achievements". (Paraphrased a bit for public consumption.)
It was off-putting for a moment, but pragmatism kicked in and I just accepted there are still a lot more ceilings to break through. As of this week women can now server on attack subs, one more down =)

I have a feeling Mhairi and my Cousland female tank will get along rather well. :-) It's nice to see another good guy.

I remember reading an anecdote a few years ago about a warrior whp sets off a trap only to find himself dangling above a pit of spikes (this was in an early D&D, I believe). The Warrior decides to free himself. He cuts the rope with his sword and shortly-thereafter discovers gravity.
Great stuff! :D

Post clippers of evil go snip snip snip
Posting spoilers without a warning is a damn quick path to a personal & permanent meeting with Bann Teagan.

Conversely, she could die in the first 20 minutes and relegate all this discussion to conjecture.
