New Dragon Age Title in 2011?

According to the latest release list by Electronic Arts we all can expect another Dragon Age title within the first quarter of 2011 which, in real-world time, falls between January 1 and March 31, 2011.
If the list is accurate they would have released a sequel just a year and a half after the original, and about only one year after Awakening. Could Bioware possibly develop a quality product in such a short period of time?
When we break it down though, the development world has changed dramatically the last 10 years. New engines aren’t built from scratch anymore. The degree of advancement in capability and appearance just isn’t drastic enough to warrant a rebuilt every time a new game goes underway.
Getting a sequel out for Dragon Age: Origins by winter 2011 is not only a reasonable expectation, it will unlikely harm the quality in any way.

January 1 to March 31, 2011 is the first quarter, surely. 4th quarter is September to December.

Are we sure they aren't just referring to another expansion? That just seems way too soon for a sequel…

I would tend to agree, must be an expansion, I would expect DAo2 to be out around 2013 Q3 -2014 Q2, Maybe an expansion; would make sense though, Awakening would be 3Qs since launch (aprox). I could see it, I wonder what the DLC schedule is like.

This isn't completely true, first quarter for year starting Jan 1st is Jan thru March; however if you read the line, the which if you read the report it is for the third quarter, and further down in the report you see "Fiscal Third Quarter Results (comparisons are to the quarter ended December 31, 2008)"
So the first quarter for EA starts April, after reading this I actually realized my previous post is quite wrong (what I was thinking not actually put down, and they are releasing Awakening in Q4 2010. Which means the planed release of this Dragon Age title would be Q4 2011, which would be Jan – Mar 2011 real world terms.

Then again, after EA's stock disaster announcement yesterday, they are pushing like made to increase revenue streams. EA has always exploited popular titles by rushing out inferior additional content because it's almost guaranteed revenue and even with some bad press, it will boost revenues and thus their stock values. Cynical, yes, but they've followed that model many a time.
Now we know it does take quite some time to develop even mediocre stories for games. It's safe to say Dragon Age, with its choose-your-own-adventure style and richly detail vocals, was a very complex and time consuming creation. The voice acting editing alone must be enormous. What of the score? Adequate periods for testing (cough, Ostagar)? Do they have all the reoccurring voice actors under contract?
I'm just sayin'…

Its not inconceivable that they would have another DA title out this soon, considering the let it slip months before DA:O was released that DA 2 was in the works.

Im guessing its not impossible for them to come up with a new game in a year and a half's period time. Considering that they already have all the tools to make a new game. All they need is the main plot and storyline (which im sure theyve already been working on even before they released DA:O), since they already have all the tools for it.
Im pretty excited about the expansion as well as the mini stories theyve been giving us, but i will be even more excited when they start releasing more accurate information about the sequel.

all i can wonder is how this will affect the 2 years of DLC for dragon age since we've only got about 2 officially released DLC for the game (save for ps3 users tho :( ) so now im starting to get worried

RTO's slow release on PS3, omiting Bioware's nerfs with the first attempt on platforms, was down to Sony. I too am concerned about where tis leaves future DLC for Origins. however, I've heard a lot of criticism of DAO "Took 5 years to produce this crap" and other less favourable comments. I've always maintained to these nay sayers that Bioware where getting a canon, that was truly their own, together and sequels would follow quickly. I omly hope they don't rush it and have a more rounded storyline where your decisions do have an impact on your charachter, NPcs and the storyline this time.
