For centuries, the Grey Wardens—the ancient order of guardians, sworn to unite and defend the lands—have been battling the darkspawn forces. Legend spoke that slaying the Archdemon would have put an end to the darkspawn threat for centuries to come, but somehow they remain.
You are the Grey Warden Commander and have been entrusted with the duty of rebuilding the order of Grey Wardens and uncovering the secrets of the darkspawn and how they managed to remain.
How you choose to rebuild your order, how you resolve the conflict with “The Architect”, and how you determine the fate of the darkspawn will be but some of the many complex choices that await and shape your journey as you venture to the new land of Amaranthine.

Not much of a secret as to which old party member is coming back, considering they show Oghren in the trailer. P-:
Comment by Galen on January 6, 2010 at 6:28 am
well that's disappointing i never used oghren by choice
Comment by JBerni on January 6, 2010 at 6:33 am
its not oghren! if u see the trailer its Alistar the one that will show up in the storyline
Comment by Smy on January 6, 2010 at 12:24 pm
But… how can he be in the trailer when….
Comment by Krovikan on January 6, 2010 at 4:40 pm
He is technically king, so he could easily be in the trailer and not be the one coming back as a party member. Probably is Alistar; however there is other options.
Comment by Adranis on January 6, 2010 at 5:46 pm
you all want it to be morrigan the same way i want it to be morrigan
Comment by JBerni on January 6, 2010 at 5:50 pm

Ferret A Baudoin, a lead designer at BioWare, has recently made a post in the Awakening thread on Social. Unfortunately it doesn't offer anything new. Its always nice to have additional clarification however.
Ferret A Baudoin
Only one companion in Awakening has been seen in Origins. The rest are new characters we hope you'll enjoy bunches. The Inferno Golem and the Spectral Dragon are just two of the new creatures in the expansion. Expect more info and screenshots in the weeks to come. :)

you probably dont get to use alistair and i think the companion that returns depends on the choices you make in Dragon Age: Origins and yes Oghren is definitely in the trailer.

Does anybody know how much will Awakening be?
Comment by Illiani on January 11, 2010 at 5:01 am
If memory serves: $39.99US ($29.99US pre-order from GameStop), or 29.99 euro (probably £35).

Actually, does anyone know if there are plans for unleashing DLC in Russia?
We cannot friggin' PAY for DLC for some reason, and have to get codes somewhere and redeem them, which is totally not cool.
Comment by Illiani on January 16, 2010 at 9:15 am
As far as memory serves, BioWare's plan for Russian DLC releases consists only of: "We're thinking about it."
Comment by Safaquel on January 16, 2010 at 6:53 pm
I seem thanks. More to the point, I don't care about DLCs being translated into russian. What I do care about is being able to buy them at all, as at present payment from Russia is not accepted in any manner.

Is there no option to pay via PayPal?
Comment by Jira Vaisayasirkul on January 20, 2010 at 10:49 am
well, i hope Awakening is better than Origins. Increase level cap, and skills would be great..
Comment by Illiani on January 20, 2010 at 11:23 am
If you didn't enjoy Origins, then your enjoyment of Awakening, will depend on what you felt was wrong in Origins. If you was mourning a lack of Clerics, High Magic & Loots, then I suspect you'll be disappointed in Awakening too.
Comment by Adaram on January 21, 2010 at 2:25 pm
Awakening will be $39.99 I think.
I think Bioware needs to have another Warden's Quest event with all the same folks that went last time. England is fine again, actually!
Comment by CaK on January 21, 2010 at 3:50 pm
Warden's Quest and meeting all of you was amazing :)
Comment by Dawson on January 23, 2010 at 12:04 pm
a little off topic but…
I most definitely know what i want the next expansion to be!
I want the Qunari to invade ferelden!
I know it really has nothing to do with Darkspawn but I miss Sten and he totally hints at The Quanri invading Ferelden and how he wont seek you out on the battlefield when they do!
just saying i wouldnt mind seeing that in an expansion

I am VERY anxious to see if the many choices my character made in DAO, affect future games & play a role in Awakening?! :) I pray to God Morrigan is in this or a hint of her being in a Future DAO! In the end of DAO my intent was to find her, I get soooo into my character & I am hell bent on finding her & my kid. :) I Love this game! It is pretty amazing when it feels like your really in the game & can't sleep w/o dreaming & fighting evil in your sleep. I love the free will/real life choices in the game & how they affect the outcome.
Keep up the great work DAO team. I can't get enough!

ive just started playing awakening. . . increased level cap and more skills. . . . allistair is in it as king if u made that choice in origins. . . u get new party members as well as ohgren back. . . thats as far as ive gotten
Comment by Elissa Cousland on June 25, 2010 at 5:23 pm
It's Oghren, played it….But Allistair should have be able to stay at your side..That sucked..he could stay…He was and is my best character, next to Oghren..hell I liked them all. Wish they would come out with another DA with all the originals and relationships on going…it is a great game non the less.
